Michael's law practice emphasizes criminal defense at the Federal, State, and local levels. The practice is State-wide, and Michael has appeared in courts in most of the counties in this State.
Born in Charleston in 1962, Michael went to Saint Mary's Catholic School and Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1984 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science.
From 1985 to 1989, Michael worked at the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission, investigating complaints of employment discrimination. From 1989 to 1992, Michael studied law at the University of South Carolina. He worked as assistant solicitor in York and Union Counties (the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit) from 1994 to 1995 and in Lexington, Edgefield, McCormick, and Saluda Counties (the Eleventh Judicial Circuit) from 1995 to 1998. In helping his clients, Michael relies daily upon his experience as a prosecutor.
